Citroën has opened its order books for new ë-C4 X Electric – the brand’s electric-only saloon version of the ë-C4 – with prices starting from £31,995, a £1,000 premium over the hatchback. 

As with the existing hatch, the ë-C4 X launches in the UK with a choice of three trim levels; ‘Sense’, ‘Shine’ and ‘Shine Plus’. The top model is priced at £35,495. 

All are powered by a 100kW electric motor and 50kWh battery, giving an official range of 222 miles (WLTP combined) on a single charge. This choice of powertrain itself is unusual, as other models in the Stellantis Group have been upgraded to a new, more efficient battery with either 51 or 54kWh. 

At 4.6 metres long, the X is longer than the hatch and the boot offers 510-litres of load space – up 130-litres on the hatch back and 85 litres more than in a Tesla Model 3. 

‘Sense’ models come as standard with 18-inch ‘Crosslight’ alloy wheels, Keyless Entry and Start, as well as a 10-inch touchscreen equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All ‘Sense’ models also feature Active Safety Brake, Speed Limit Information, Lane Keeping Assist, Forward Collision Warning and Driver Attention Alert. 

Building on the standard equipment in ‘Sense’ versions, "Shine’ models gain the ‘My Citroën Drive Plus’ infotainment and navigation system with voice command. ‘Shine’ variants also benefit from a head-up display, a reversing camera, Automatic Intelligent Beam Headlights, as well as a heated steering wheel. Safety is improved with Advanced Active Safety Brake with night-time and cyclist detection, and Extended Traffic Sign Recognition. ‘Shine’ variants are available from £34,495. 

The range-topping ‘Shine Plus’ versions add Alcantara seats that are heated for the driver and front passenger and Adaptive Cruise Control, priced at £35,495. 

First customer deliveries of the ë-C4 X Electric are scheduled for spring 2023.
