I drove the Cupra Raval out in Barcelona a few weeks ago, and it really surprised me just how much fun it is. The Raval VZ really is a proper hot hatch to rival the Alpine A290. So, it’s good to know that it’s already available for pre-order in the UK, and is also eligible for the £1,500 electric car grant discount - provided you go for the big battery, 52kWh variant.
The Raval range starts at £23,785 for the Origin 37kWh, while the V1 and V2 versions with the same LFP battery cost £26,995 and £29,580 respectively – and manage an official WLTP range of 186 miles.
Step up to the 52kWh NMC battery and you get a range of up to 277 miles, as well as that £1,500 grant from the British government. After the grant is deducted you’ll be paying £28,495 for the Raval 52kWh V1, £31,080 for the V2 or V2 Launch Edition, while the sporty VZ that I drove (and loved – it’s a proper hot hatch!) costs £33,495 - £34,810.
Choose to pre-order before the end of August, and you also get some cheeky early discounts and extra kit. Free standard metallic paint will be available on all 52kWh Cupra models, and there’s a £695 discount on that lovely matte paint. I’ll take mine in Manganese Green, thanks.
You’ll also have to order soon if you want the Cupra Raval launch edition, which adds £1,500 worth of extra kit to the V2 trim at no extra cost and is definitely the best balance of equipment, value and range. Deliveries of the Cupra Raval will start later this year.
