EDF has linked up with PodPoint to offer a new subscription tariff which spreads the cost of a home charger over three years, meaning there is no need to pay up front for a unit and installation.
By signing up to EDF’s Go Electric tariff and adding PodPoint’s Pod Drive subscription, you will agree to a three-year EV charging subscription which includes a PodPoint Solo 3S 7.4kW home EV charger for £40 per month.
The companies claim a driver covering 7,000 miles would save £280 annually compared to using standard variable tariff, even taking into account the charger subscription.
Customers could also earn up to £172.50 per year in cashback if they ‘smart charge’ with Pod, which schedules charging during off-peak hours when grid demand is lower, to maximise savings during less carbon intensive times.
EDF’s GoElectric offers customers five hours of off-peak electricity every night from 12am to 5am at 9p/kWh. Other cheaper tariffs are available from alternative suppliers, although with EDF’s offer the Pod Drive £99 set-up fee is removed.
Pod Drive also has a 48-hour repair or replace service with 24/7 customer support and lifetime warranty.
To be eligible for Pod Drive, customers are required to have a smart meter and be opted into half hourly meter readings. The Pod Drive offer can be accessed by signing up to one of two EDF EV tariffs — GoElectric or Evolve — and registering interest in Pod Drive. EDF will then pass details onto Pod to set-up their plan and arrange their installation.
