The Ford Puma has been reliably at the top of the UK bestsellers list for the last few years, especially so in 2025 with the launch of the Gen-E electric version of the likeable little crossover.
But the Gen-E won’t be pulling its weight for the next few months, because it’s sold out according to Ford. But don’t worry, the Blue Oval is speeding up deliveries of its updated 2026 version of the car with deliveries expected in May 2026.
The Puma Gen-E is one of three EVs currently on sale that qualifies for the full £3,750 plug-in grant from the UK government (check out our full list of the cars here), which has no doubt only added to its showroom appeal.
There’s going to be a little bonus when the new car arrives in 2026, however – Ford has said that the price will stay the same (starting from £26,245), but it’s releasing another 15 miles of range so the car is now rated at 248 miles of WLTP range.
Puma Gen-E buyers will also be able to add the Driver Assistance Pack, which now includes BlueCruise tech that Ford says allows hands-free driving on the motorway. Its full capabilities can only be activated one what the company calls ‘Blue Zones’, and the car will continue to monitor the driver’s attention and where they’re looking to make sure that they’re paying attention to the road.
There are Blue Zones across Europe, where the BlueCruise setup has been approved for use in 16 countries, and Ford reckons that drivers can now travel 1,500 miles from Stockholm to Rome driving hands free. Long way for an espresso, but it sounds doable.
Puma Gen-E buyers will also benefit from Ford’s ‘Power Promise’ offer which nets them a free wall box for the house or 10,000 miles from Octopus Energy’s charging scheme.
