Jaguar F-Pace PHEV gets more range and lower tax rate

Jaguar has upgraded its F-Pace P400e plug-in hybrid with a new bigger battery which brings range and efficiency improvements. Crucially, it also cuts the benefit-in-kind rate for company car drivers from 12 to 8%, bringing it level with the BMW X5 45e.

The F-Pace's battery pack now uses nine modules in place of eight, raising the storage capacity to 19.2kWh. This increases the electric-only range from up to 33 miles to a new maximum of 40.4 miles – an increase of more than 20 per cent. This reduces CO2 emissions from 49 to 37g/km.

The P400e powertrain’s combined output of 400bhp enables acceleration from 0-60mph in just 5.0 seconds. The battery can also be charged quickly, as the F-Pace has a CCS socket to allow DC rapid charging capability, although it is limited to 35kWh.

The entire F-Pace range has had a spec upgrade too, with integrated Alexa voice control and what3words navigation as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. All of the trim levels have other visual tweaks to the wheels and interior too.

Inevitably the prices have also risen, with the entry level P400e R-Dynamic S now costing £60,985 (up from £60,420). The SE has a steeper increase from £63,615 to £65,715, while the HSE climbs from £67,035 to £69,335. All are available to order now.

Don't blame us for the pictures. Jaguar's photographer seems to have forgotten his flash
