Leapmotor has given us a first glimpse of its new small SUV, the B03X. The car is set to be launched in the UK in the second half of 2026 after the B05 electric hatchback goes on sale in the summer.
The B03X will go head to head with rivals in one of the most competitive parts of the car market, taking on the likes of the Ford Puma, Vauxhall Mokka and Renault 4.
Leapmotor hopes that the car will compete on its strong pricing, range and the smiling face hidden in the rear lights, as well as extensive use of AI help for the driver inside the cabin. The Chinese carmaker is one of the key brands taking on an increasing share of the UK's new car market.

Leapmotor hasn’t given out much information about the car, but we do know that it is 4,200mm long, 1,800mm wide and 1,600mm tall. If we compare that to the Ford Puma, then the B03X is 14mm longer than the Puma, about the same height and 63mm taller, which we can see in the Chinese car’s upright stance compared with the Puma’s more rakish silhouette.
In China the car is set to be badged as the A10 – when that car was revealed at the Guangzhou motor show last week the company said that it was good for 310 miles on China’s test protocol, which is notably more optimistic than the WLTP figure that we use, so we can probably expect a sub-300 mile range from the car.

Size details haven’t been released for the car’s LFP battery yet, but Leapmotor has said that it can charge from 30 to 80% capacity in 16 minutes, which means either that the battery is really small or that the car is a fast charger.
The A10 is being pitched in the Chinese market squarely against BYD’s Atto 2 (which is badged as the BYD Atto 2 in the UK market), which has a 267 mile range and is priced from £30,850. The Ford Puma Gen-E is priced from £29,995, but Leapmotor’s larger B10 SUV already kicks off its pricing at the same level when you factor in the Leap-Grant, so we can guess that the B03X will undercut some of its key rivals on cost.
