Just under a week to go until we finally get to feast our eyes on Cupra’s new baby electric crossover, the Raval.
We’ve already had a bit of a drive of the car in final prototype form, with Ginny christening the new Cupra ‘Sporty Spice’ in the Volkswagen Group’s new trio of electric superminis.

The Raval will go on sale featuring the same underpinnings – but very different outerpinnings – as the Skoda Epiq and Volkswagen ID.Polo (Posh and Baby, says Ginny), with 38kWh and 56kWh versions available and offering a range of up to 272 miles.
The Cupra brand was launched in 2018 as a posh sub-brand of the VW Group’s sporty Seat outfit, though seven new models and over a million sales later Cupra has massively eclipsed Seat to the point that many industry onlookers are predicting the stalwart Spanish carmaker’s demise.
The new Raval could be the final nail in the coffin when it’s revealed on 9 April – the dinky EV promises the sportiest treatment of the new Volkswagen trio, and certainly Ginny’s nickname for the car will raise expectations.

As well as the camo wrap coming off the car, we’ll also get to see the Raval’s interior, which we’ve only glimpsed in concept form so far. Like with the ID.Polo we’re expecting to see the return of proper buttons to the cabin after the VW Group’s touchscreen kick, and the Raval should get the most extreme treatment of its supermini siblings.
There’s also promise of a hot VZ version to come, but that won’t be available in the launch lineup. We expect the new car to cost from around £21,000 in the UK for the smaller batteried option, but we will hear more about the trim option and UK specification in due course.
