Spring gets stronger with more power

Dacia has upgraded its Spring city car with an updated chassis, a new battery and two new motors – 70 hp and 100 hp – replacing the electric 45 and electric 65.

The chassis houses a new battery in a reinforced central section. These changes make the car's structure stiffer and optimise weight distribution between front and rear to improve the overall balance of the vehicle.

Braking has also been boosted with more powerful assistance, while the Spring gets an anti-roll bar for the first time to tidy up the handling, with new settings for the shock absorbers and suspension springs to match.

In addition, Spring has undergone various aerodynamic improvements, with a set of fairings at the front, sides and rear to reduce aerodynamic turbulence underneath the car. A new spoiler also limits turbulence around the upper part of the rear tailgate, reducing drag and improving efficiency.

The two new motors offer more power and torque between 50 and 75 mph (up to +20%), which is said to make the Spring is more comfortable at motorway speeds. The new 70 hp powertrain is available with the Expression trim, while the new 100 hp powertrain is available with Extreme.

Both these upgraded powertrains work with a new 24.3 kWh battery, which uses Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) technology for the first time. The 140 mile range is unchanged from the old car. Charging is also boosted, with a new 40 kW DC onboard charger replacing the old 30 kW unit on the Extreme trim level.

Prices are expected to remain unchanged, starting at around £15,000, with deliveries beginning in early 2026.

Dacia is also offering a new colour called Seafoam on the revised Spring
