The Tesla Model 3 is getting upgraded to a larger 16in infotainment screen, a new interior colour option and excitingly for its owners newly available V2L capability.
But there’s a catch – the upgrades are only available in cars sold in China, Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
Those cars are all built at Tesla’s factory in Shanghai, though UK examples come from there too – the Texan carmaker likes to play these things quietly, so we don’t know yet when it plans to expand the changes to other markets. It could just be a case of waiting for the next cargo ship to arrive.

The vehicle to load functionality – where you can power electronics off the car’s battery – is rated at 2.4kW, enough to support some camping kit or a day out.
Customers will need to buy an adaptor from Tesla to enjoy the new feature, which plugs into the car’s charge port. The infotainment screen meanwhile has been expanded from 15.4in to 16in and apparently comes with a higher resolution.
Interestingly, recent investigations by people who’ve got under the skin of the latest versions of the Model 3 have found the cars being shipped with the physical hardware required for vehicle to load capability, fuelling rumours that the feature was set to be enabled using over the air updates.

Unfortunately for most existing Model 3 owners it’s not a feature that can be turned on over the air for them because the car isn’t set up for it.
V2L was enabled over the summer on certain versions of the Model Y and Cybertruck, much to the delight of Tesla fans, but some would like the company to go further and offer beefier vehicle to home capability as well.
The last round of updates to the car arrived at the end of 2025, with a lower price and indicator stalks reintroduced to the car.
