Volkswagen tweaks ID.4 and ID.5 prices to qualify for government grant

Volkswagen has tweaked the starting prices of ID.4 and ID.5 ranges to below they drop below £37,000, ensuring that certain models will qualify for the level-two £1,500 Government Electric Car Grant (ECG) discount. 

Most ID.3 models are already eligible, with eight versions qualifying.

With the discounts applied, the ID.4 and ID.5 models start from £35,495. The full list of the models eligible for the grant is:

ID.4 Pure Essential 52 kWh 

ID.4 Pure Match 52 kWh 

ID.4 Pro Essential 77 kWh 

ID.5 Pure Match 52 kWh 

ID.5 Pro Essential 77 kWh 

To qualify for the Government’s ECG, companies are required to meet strict technical and sustainability standards. The new VW inclusions mean there are now 38 cars in the eligible list, although only the Ford Puma and E-Tourneo Courier qualify for the full £3,750 Level 1 grant.
