Life is inevitably full of compromises. When you are buying a car, it means you might have to choose between having a spacious model with room for all the family or selecting something which is more efficient and less expensive to run. You will also have to accept that your budget means you will have to sacrifice quality or abandon hope of getting the latest technology and safety features.

Unless you are one of the more than 100,000 UK drivers who have chosen an MG, of course. The company’s award-winning range of EVs make electric motoring fun and affordable, with its latest SUVs offering all that a modern family motorist could need, thanks to MG’s innovations.

The new MGS5 EV and MGS6 EV make use of the packaging advantages offered by an electric vehicle design to free up more interior space. The advanced MG Modular Scalable Platform features ultra-thin battery cells and compact motors to leave more room for occupants and their luggage. Adults and teenage kids will feel spoilt by the amount of room in the rear, especially if they are used to smaller hatchbacks or SUVs which are comparable in price to the MGs.

In the MGS5 EV there’s 453 litres of standard boot space, or with the rear seats folded this increases to 1,441 litres. A twin-level boot floor provides further flexibility in the space. The Trophy model even features an electrically powered tailgate for easy access when your hands are full.

The larger MGS6 EV offers even more. With extra length between the front and rear wheels, there is ample room for a family of five to travel in comfort. There’s more space for luggage too, with a huge 674 litres with the rear seats in place and a van-like 1,910 litres with them folded.

There is even a frunk under the bonnet, allowing you to keep muddy boots or cables away from the beautifully trimmed interior. At 124 litres for the single motor versions and 102 litres for the all-wheel-drive model, it’s big enough to fit an extra carry-on suitcase.

Inside the cabin, the space has been designed to fit in with your busy life with thoughtful storage right where you need it, along with wireless charging for your smartphone on Trophy models. The MGS6 EV has over 30 storage spots, including a large area under the centre console, which is perfect for a bag, keeping it within reach but out of sight. USB and 12v power sockets are conveniently placed to keep your devices topped up too.

Both models have exceptional interior quality and styling which is designed to create an oasis of calm. They feature suede effect trim and soft-touch elements and contrasting finishes. The materials and colour choices such as the grey Carbon and beige Natural reflect or contrast with the exterior shades to give alight and airy feel. The Trophy version of the MGS6 EV even has a huge panoramic sunroof to let natural light flood in, and an electric blind when you’d rather keep it cool.

When it is cool outside, you’ll appreciate the heated elements inside the MGS5 EV and MGS6 EV too. Heating elements are built into the leather-style front seats and steering wheel of the Trophy variants of the MGS5 EV, and all MGS6 EV models. In the top specification MGS6 EV you’ll also find the rear outer seats are heated, while the front seats are ventilated for extra comfort in all weather conditions.

MG’s clever iSMART connectivity means the driver can choose to precondition the cabin in cold or hot weather too, making it the ideal temperature inside even when you are not near the car. It means you don’t need to wait for your MG to defrost and can use energy from the grid while the car is plugged in rather than taking power from the battery.

It will ensure that everyone will feel comfortable inside an MGS5 EV or MGS6 EV. So why compromise with anything less?
