It's your last chance to buy a new Fisker Ocean – there are 80 right-hand-drive models left

Fisker – the car company so good it bankrupted twice, though it still has a long way to go to beat Aston Martin’s impressive record of seven – is selling off its remaining stock in Austria, so this is your last chance to get your hands on one until Henrik Fisker starts up a new company.

The last iteration of the Californian carmaker was around from 2016 to 2024, led by Danish designer Fisker. It had ambitious plans for a range of cars from a city hatch (called the Pear) to a sports car, but started off with a large luxury SUV.

The Fisker Ocean unveiled in 2022 was supposed to be a world beating electric SUV – built by the engineering experts at Magna Steyr in Austria, batteries supplied by CATL, a WLTP range of around 400 miles… this could have been the real deal.

Unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be, and Fisker went bust in 2024 with hundreds of millions of dollars of debt despite at one point sitting on a pile of 65,000 reservations.

Over 11,000 Oceans were shipped before the accountants took over, but some were left in the factory unordered. That means the liquidator appointed by the Austrian authorities to get as much value as possible out of the remains of the company has now turned car dealer.

He's set up a company called Fisker Service, which has 80 right-hand-drive cars it’s trying to shift through an online auction process, with a variety of examples from the Ocean’s three-trim line-up (Sport, Ultra, Extreme) available. They all come as is, so you don’t get to choose any extras or wheel sizes, etc.

The auction site set up by the Graz-appointed liquidator starts from £19,287 for a brand new entry level Sport model with 174 miles (280km) of range from the 73kWh LFP ‘touring range’ battery. This range, though fairly dismal, is described as “realistic” on the liquidator’s website – WLTP was 288 miles.

At the high end they’re asking £42,630 for the range topping Extreme cars with 280 miles (450km) of range from the huge 113kWh NMC ‘hyper range’ battery. The WLTP figure for this car was 440 miles. These prices are cheaper than new, but not as cheap as the firesale that was meant to save Fisker back in 2024.

All the Oceans come with a 17.1in infotainment screen as standard, with the latest version of the software (and some might say definitive – the glitches have apparently been ironed out) featuring Apple and Android connectivity.

Some of the cars come with little treats like a panoramic sunroof, heat pump and Fisker’s so-called ‘taco tray’, which was a fold-out table from the centre console bin that you could eat a little snack off while charging.
There are some used examples of the SUVs available too that could have been used for testing, demonstration or as company cars for employees.

Fisker Service says that there’s no need to worry about spare parts or servicing because plans have been put in place to accommodate those – Fisker Service is different to the Fisker company, this one has been set up by ex-technicians and employees to service the cars that have already been sold.
