Ford and charge point provider Ohme have announced a new initiative across the island of Ireland where customers who buy one of Ford’s EVs – including from the Ford Pro commercial lineup – will get an Ohme home charger with installation included. For all the chumps who live in Great Britain Ford has a deal with Octopus Energy for free home chargers.
Eight councils across the Glasgow region are looking for a charge point provider to take over 600 existing charge points and install another 3,000 in a contract that will give the successful bidder operating rights for 20 years. The leader of Glasgow city council said that the initiative would make charging accessible to thousands of residents without driveways.
Meanwhile North Northamptonshire council has signed a deal with Connected Kerb to build more than 1,500 new charge points in the area over the next three years. The scheme is being part funded by the Department for Transport with additional investment from Connected Kerb.

And in more local news, Believ has installed what it says is the first of thousands of plugs to be installed across Suffolk in conjunction with the Department for Transport’s Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure scheme. This first charge point is in Ashley Street in Ipswich, and Believ plans to install a minimum of 2,100 on-street points and 400 local car park chargers with the option for more. Though at six people per plug (above) it might take a while…
InstaVolt has installed a set of batteries on site at Corley services on the M6 in an effort to bolster the grid connection during high demand periods. The company has installed eight 160kW chargers on the northbound side and seven at the southbound services, and says that this is the first step in a wider planned rollout across its network

Arnold Clark Charge says it’s now Scotland’s ‘largest ultra-rapid charging network’, with over 50 hubs across the country that are based out of the company’s dealerships and open to the public. The network was launched in 2024, and its locations offer up to 12 ultra-rapid chargers with prices starting from 55p per kWh says the firm. And if your car is taking too long to juice up presumably you can swap it for another one…
