The wheelchair accessible version of Kia’s new PV5 electric MPV is set to make its European debut this week, with an appearance at the Motability Scheme Live exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham.

There are aftermarket modified versions of the PV5 available to order already, but this new version is a factory built variant of the PV5 that has been planned from the beginning on Kia’s versatile new platform that underpins the car.

The PV5 WAV is a five-seater with side entry for a wheelchair user – though it should be noted that it’s set up in this configuration for a wheelchair using passenger, not a driver. Two of the seats fold away to allow a wheelchair in the rear of the PV5 WAV, with a seat alongside.

The manually deployable ramp has a maximum angle of 13.1 degrees and also features integrated floor lighting to making getting on board that bit easier.

Kia says that the floor has been reinforced that there’s also an anchorage system to secure the wheelchair on the move.

The PV5 WAV will be available to order through the UK’s Motability scheme, which was the subject of some controversy at the end of 2025 when the chancellor announced that so-called ‘posh’ brands would no longer be eligible for the scheme.

Production of the official PV5 WAV is expected to start in Korea within the next month, but Kia hasn’t said yet when it plans to open the order books and what prices we can expect to pay. Keep an eye out on Electrifying.com for the latest news.
