Hyundai has revealed a new camper concept version of its Staria electric MPV that we only just watched unveiled the other week at the Brussels motor show.
The pimped out holiday version of the van is on display at the CMT camping and tourism show in Stuttgart, where Hyundai hasn’t committed to putting the Staria Camper into production but is listening to feedback from showgoers to see whether they like it.

So what features does the Staria Camper enjoy? It has an integrated, electrically operated pop-up roof for extra space when parked up but maximum efficiency on the move. On top of the pop-up roof is a 520W solar panel that Hyundai says can generate up to 2.6kWh of electricity a day (significantly less if you’re holidaying in the UK) based on an average five hours of sunlight.
The Camper concept also has a portable shower that plugs in at the back of the van, a 36-litre fridge and a cabin temperature control system that are all powered by the onboard computer system if you want to enjoy some off-grid living.

Perhaps our favourite touch is the privacy glass in the back of the Staria Camper, which can turn opaque at a jab of the touchscreen control panel. This special glass filters out UV rays and helps stop the Staria from heating up too quickly as well.
The front seats spin round for a generous lounge/dining area, and the rear seats fold down to create a double bed. There’s a neat little panel in the kitchen you can hook things on, a roll-out table attached to the back of the van that slides out for a spot of al fresco dining and even an integrated awning to keep the sun off you.

No notes, Hyundai, just pop it into production. We don’t have too many details about the Staria yet before it goes on sale – you can read our story from Brussels here – but Hyundai has said that the electric MPV should be good for 249 miles of WLTP range from its 84kWh battery, and the 800V setup means it’ll charge from 20–80% in 20 minutes. So seven seats or one bed? I know which one I’d prefer…
Hyundai is also offering show attendees some reasonably priced accommodation at booth EO235
