ŠKODA has revealed sketches of a new all-electric concept car that previews the brand’s next generation of production cars. Dubbed VISION 7S, the concept will be revealed in full on 30 August and is likely to preview an all-new seven-seater which will eventually replace the current Kodiaq model.

The new look marks a significant change for the Czech brand and further differentiates ŠKODA from other brands in the Volkswagen Group. The new front end is wider and flatter than on the current Enyaq model and features a shallower closed grille finished in black. The front headlights, which have been repositioned far out to the edge of the vehicle, are arranged in two rows one above the other. The daytime running light strip above them extends laterally into the pronounced wings, extending the light cluster to form a ’T’.

The new front bumper features seven vertically arranged air inlets, with the central one finished in orange. The lower apron area is fitted with an aluminium guard, which suggests that the production model will retain the current Kodiaq’s off-road capabilities.

The side view of the concept is defined by clear surfaces and a gently sloping roof line to the rear. At the back the VISION 7S features new vertically stacked light clusters that sit within a channel that runs along the width of the car. At the top of the light stacks are more narrow lighting strips that continue the T-shaped theme.

The new exterior sketches accompany a rendering of the 7S interior which was released last month. The image shows an unusual layout with a child seat positioned in the middle of the car. This, according to ŠKODA is the safest position in the vehicle in the event of an accident.

While the VISION S is most likely to lead to a new Kodiaq, the design language will be used on all new ŠKODA models. Earlier this year, the brand confirmed that it will build at least three MEB-based electric cars to sit below the Enyaq by 2030.
