Peugeot has given its top-selling e-208 supermini a makeover with new styling, more technology and a longer electric range.

Launched in 2019, the baby Peugeot was the best-selling B-segment electric car in Europe last year. Despite that, the firm has added a number of new features to keep the car at the top of the sales charts.

The refreshed e-208 gets Peugeot's latest design cues which include the brand's new shield logo, a new grille made up of colour-coded elements, and three-claw LED day-running lights already seen on the latest e-2008 and 508 models. There's a pair of new rear LED lights, too, while new colours including 'Agueda Yellow' (pictured) feature, along with new alloy wheel designs.

Inside, Peugeot's designers have also tweaked the digital display that's mounted high above the car's small steering wheel with a new design, while all models get a larger 10-inch touchscreen as seen on the updated e-2008 small SUV. The infotainment system is easier to use than before with crispier graphics and more intuitive menus.

Elsewhere there's the choice of eight ambient lighting colours on top-spec GT models, more USB-C charging sockets, high-definition parking cameras, and the e-208 gets the 'e-Toggle' gear shifter as already used on other Stellantis models such as the Citroen e-C4 and Vauxhall Mokka Electric.

There are further changes under the skin, too. Peugeot has bolted in Stellantis's latest 54kWh (51kWh useable) battery and 156bhp electric motor that drives the front wheels. The 4kWh larger battery should give the e-208 a range of 248 miles (WLTP tested), while the 100kW rapid-charging capability means a 20-80% charge will take less than 25 minutes when connected to a suitable charger.

Just like with the e-2008, Peugeot has slimmed down the new e-208's trim range to three with only Active, Allure and GT models available. Prices will be announced later this year and we'd expect a small increase to the current car's £31,595 starting price.

Refreshed e-208 gets new grille and LED day-running lights. The colour – 'Agueda Yellow' – is new, too
