Is this an electrified version of the current Megane?
Confusingly, Renault already makes a Megane E-Tech – a plug-in hybrid version of the current petrol powered Megane. For reasons best known to Renault, the all-new, all-electric version will have the same name, even though it’s a completely new and different car.
What battery sizes will be available?
Renault currently offers the Megane E-Tech with one battery options; a 60kWh pack. In other markets there is a 40kWh model, and it may follow on later.
Will there be an RS version?
Not as such, but Renault has confirmed that its sporting sub-brand Alpine will develop a range of high performance electric cars. So we would expect to see a range-topping Alpine Megane electric at some point in the future with all-wheel drive and a power output of more than 300bhp.
Will there be an estate?
It’s unlikely that the new Megane E-Tech will be offered as an estate. The market for estate cars has dwindled in recent years with buyers preferring the practicality and high driving position of SUVs.
How much is the Megane E-Tech?
Prices start at £34,495 for the Equilibre, rising to £38,495 for the Iconic.
