We’ve been charmed by the Mii. It’s an honest, well-made and surprisingly fun package that covers all the basics and delivers a longer range than you'd expect. Factor in the £23k price tag and it’s going to make financial sense for a lots of drivers who might have thought they couldn't go electric.

Ginny Says

“The baby SEAT is a fantastic small EV that does everything well. The range is brilliant for an urban car, the cabin is unfussy and it’s fun to drive. Factor in that sub-£20k price tag and the financial sums will add up for thousands of people.”

Nicki Says

“Whether you opt for a VW, SEAT or ŠKODA badge, this small Volkswagen Group EV is a great introduction to the world of electric motoring. The price makes a lot of supermini EVs look needlessly expensive and I love the back-to-basics feel of the interior.”

It’ll take you around nine hours to fully charge the Mii on a domestic single-phase charger, but you’ll be able to roam for nearly 170 miles between plug-ins

Range

The Mii has a relatively large battery pack for its overall size, which pays dividends in terms of range. SEAT officially quotes between 140 and 170 miles on the WLTP cycle, and having spent a week behind the wheel, we’d say that those figures are pretty achievable. The modest 81bhp motor limits the amount of charge you can drain from the battery and given that most Miis will be driving in urban environments, few will have reason to quibble with the range figure.

Battery

At the heart of the Mii is a lithium-ion battery that has a capacity of 36.8 kWh, of which 32.3 kWh can be used. The 60-Ah battery pack consists of 168 cells and is brilliantly packaged into the SEAT's floor area. SEAT says that the pack itself is just 30cm tall, which has allowed it to install it without altering passenger space or the luggage capacity. In terms of layout, the Mii's motor drives the front wheels via a single speed transmission. Advanced control electronics manage the flow of energy from the high-voltage battery pack to and from the electric motor.

Charging

The Mii can be recharged in three ways. The quickest method is via a CCS rapid charger, which can charge at a maximum rate of 40kW and can go from 20-80% in an hour. It can also be charged via a Type 2 connection at a maximum rate of 7.2kW. A 6 metre Type 2 cable (Mode 3) is included as standard.

Finally, the Mii can also be charged via a UK standard three-pin plug, but charging to 80 per cent takes 12 hours and 43 minutes.
