“This is the first really convincing electric van I've tried. The Vivaro-e has proper carrying capacity, respectable range and sensible pricing. Add in the carrot of £8,000 government grants with the stick of zero emission zone charges and going electric makes perfect business sense.”

“I like electric vans and the Vivaro-e makes huge sense. A big 75kWh battery gives over 200 miles of range (although a bit less payload than the 50kWh model). Plus, urban deliverers get all sorts of grants from the government, including paying 20% of purchase price up to £8k. That’s a big incentive to go electric.”

The Vivaro-e is in high demand and there’s actually a bit of a waiting list. This will keep prices high.

Used models

As the Vivaro-e is fresh to the market, don’t expect to see many used examples appearing in any great numbers for a few months – especially as the demand for new models is currently really high as the result of some big fleet deals. However, dealers will have demonstrator models which they’ll be happy to sell on after three months or so, and Vauxhall itself will have a fleet of training and demo vans which will be fed into the market.

In a few years there will be plenty of used electric Vivaros on the market as the big fleets (like British Gas) renew their fleets. Expect them to hold their value well though as diesel vans will seem really old-hat as time marches on and increased taxes and tolls bite.
