Volkswagen has revealed a first look at the interior of its new ID.Polo electric supermini – we’ve only seen glimpses of the inside of the car so far (and driven the concept version, check it out here), but this our first chance to get a proper look at what the production version of the electric Polo will look like.
At first glance the ID.Polo has successfully managed to blend the style of the petrol Polo that it gets its name from (and which is set to remain on sale for a few more years yet) and Volkswagen’s range of ID-badged electric cars.

From what we can see of the new ID.Polo it has a fairly minimalist interior, with lots of straight lines and a stylish fabric-trimmed dashboard. The centre console has some covered storage under the armrest and there are USB plugs in a storage area underneath the top part. The play and pause graphics on the pedals have been brought over the from the ID range. The two-spoke steering wheel is a new style that we haven’t seen on any Volkswagens yet, a development of the recent three-spoke style of wheel that we’ve become used to in recent years.
Button fans will be pleased by the sight of the four window switches on the driver’s door panel, as well as a physical knob on the centre console that appears to be marked for volume and track skipping. A row of physical switches underneath the large touchscreen infotainment display offer shortcuts to important functions, while the new steering wheel is positively festooned with buttons – there are 19 icons visible.

The car is based on the same platform as the upcoming Skoda Epiq and Cupra Raval models and will feature a VW-badged crossover version called the ID.Cross. The platform is called ‘MEB Entry’ and it’s a development of the engineering system that the Volkswagen Group uses for its mainstream electric vehicles. By sharing parts and using common engineering it means that VW Group brands are able to keep costs down.
Prices haven’t been announced for the new car, but Volkswagen has said all along that it aims to get the entry price for the ID.Polo range down to around £22,000 to make it competitive.
The ID.Polo is set to go on sale in the second half of 2026, and we’ll bring you all the details on the new Volkswagen as soon as they’re revealed.
And importantly there's also loads of space for drinks underneath the boot floor, should've led with that
