Money Saving Hero Awards 2023
Best electric van - Ford eTransit
More and more commercial vehicles are turning fully-electric, and to mark this, we’re awarding the Ford E-Transit the title of best Money Saving electric van for 2023.
The Transit was once hailed by Ford as the “backbone of Britain” owing to its popularity with trades and businesses, and it could be set to do the heavy lifting on Britain’s highways once again, in the all-electric era with the new E-Transit.
Firstly, it should satisfy accounting departments with its competitive price tag compared with other electric full-size vans, while Ford also claims that servicing and maintenance costs should be a major draw, being on average around 40 per cent cheaper than a diesel powered version of the Transit.
Secondly, it’s an electric van those tasked with operating on a daily basis should find straightforward and no-frills. It’s good to drive, with two motor options including a 181bhp motor variant alongside a more powerful 265bhp option, while maximum range stands at 196 miles. That should be more than enough for local business needs, and some deliveries further afield, while standard 115kW DC rapid charging capability, roadside top-ups to 80% charge should take barely more than half an hour if needed.
Offered with two roof heights and a myriad number of wheelbases, there's no compromise to be found in terms of loadspace and carrying capacity, as it sits on par with diesel powered transits.
Could it be the van to convince many business owners to turn their fleets electric in 2023?
